Welcome to the Jefferson Lighthouse School
PTA website!
Jefferson Lighthouse School (JLS) is a centrally-located magnet school
in Racine, Wisconsin which focuses on the needs of the intellectually
gifted. The school was created in 1977, when clusters of gifted
children from elementary schools throughout the Racine Unified School
District were brought together. Over time, the school and its
curriculum have evolved to what it is today. The Lighthouse Program has
received both state and national recognition for its exemplary
curriculum model.
Mission Statement
Our mission at Jefferson Lighthouse School is to challenge gifted and academically advanced students to become critical thinkers and compassional life-long learners who are responsible global citizens
Through a safe, nurturing environment, the Wisconsin State Standards, and International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme will serve as the foundation for our program of studies.
